Electrodeionization (EDI) & Continuous Electrodeionization (CEDI)

Pillars:

Various industries require exceptionally pure water with very low conductivity. This ultra pure water (UPW) can be used in industries like pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing to ensure the highest quality of product with near to close to zero impurities to ensure product quality. Other uses for high purity water (HPW) is to improve the energy vector in systems such as boilers used in power generation or petrochemical industries where energy is too costly to waste on impurities. To squeeze the permeate from NF or RO systems to a better quality many industries are turning to Electrodeionization (EDI). EDI and CEDI is a continuous membrane process for water polishing driven by direct current where water passes between positive and negative electrodes. Space in the module is divided by ion exchange membranes and filled with ion exchange resins.  The electric field removes ions, salts, organic acids, and other charged substances from the water, as they pass through ion exchange membranes and resins in EDI modules.

MEGA is the manufacturer of world-class cost-effective, reliable and chemical-free EDI and CEDI unit operations and fully assembled packages. The MPure units and RALEX systems are able to reach up to 18.2 MΩ/cm resistivity a compact configuration with a very small foot print for the flows up to 135m³/h and beyond. They are resilient and long
lasting, highly modular and ultra water efficient as well as energy efficient. Mitigate your ultra-pure water risk with MEGA’s EDI units controlled on resistivity for chemical-free operation.
