In water there is a range of contaminants that need to be handled through settling or through its inverse, flotation. Dissolved Air Flotation is this process of generating a fine bubble blanket that lifts large buoyant particles and solids to the surface to then be removed from the water. In partnership with the fine bubble aeration, coagulants and flocculants are added to the water source to enhance the efficacy as these chemical processes help bring finer particles together and increase the surface area to which the bubbles can apply their lifting force. These systems are used extensively to help remove suspended solids as a floating sludge as well as oils and greases which is critical for the protection of downstream treatment processes such as fine filtration, membrane systems and further if it they are not being used as an effluent treatment unit operation.

Ventil Aqua’s VAMEF and VAMEF R range are a compact ready-to-use DAF unit operation that includes chemical dosing systems, aeration, pH control, sludge scraping, separation and control to have a plug and play system treating difficult water immediately. Engineered, reviewed, redesigned and continuously optimised by a team of chemical engineers, the VAMEF range is being used on hundreds of sites. Ventil Aqua is helping remove suspended solids / generate sludge, oils & greases and chemical oxygen demand (COD) in packages ranging from 0.5m³/h to 20m³/h.

Somewhat singularly Ventil Aqua’s deep knowledge of a vast range of wastewater and effluent feed waters has guided them to create the Dissolved OZONE flotation VADOF unit that offers solids separation and continuous advanced oxidation in a single package. This brilliant unit operation is able to combine multiple treatment processes into a singular piece of equipment saving on the footprint needed to clean highly contaminated effluents, leaving a treated stream that has the strong oxidation effects of ozone to disinfect the water. Currently, this solution is installed in a range of industries where recalcitrant COD allows for COD removal up to 95% and 100% colour removal as is needed in tanneries and textile effluent plants. Ozone is further used in the treatment of micro-pollutants, contaminants of emerging concern, endocrine disruptors and even PFAS.
